New games at Canterbury O/8 LHE mix and “Survivor” NLHE
I was out at Canterbury last night and was pleasantly surprised to see the addition of two new games to the normal all limit hold’em lineup.
The first is a 6/12 limit hold’em/omaha 8 or better game that rotates between each game every half hour. I played in the game for around 2 hours or so starting at 10 at night going to midnight. It has only been running for the past few days so there isn’t a pattern or schedule for when the game runs.
The second game is an attempt to mimic a $ 1/$ 2 NLHE cash game while staying within the current gaming laws they call Survivor NLHE. It has not run as of yet but it is a tournament structured like this:
1. Everyone buys in for $300 + $35 at the beginning and there are unlimited optional rebuys for $300 + $10.
2. It is played as a 1 table 3 hour timed tournament so players start with $300 of tournament chips and the blinds are 1 and 2. They are never increased.
3. Players may rebuy after losing an all-in hand and before the next hand is dealt.
4. At the end of the three hour time period play is concluded
5. At any point the players can determine to “chop” the prize pool so the game doesn’t have to go for three hours
That’s all I know about it for now. I’ll probably try and get in a game sometime this weekend.

Played in the first one of these last night and I have to say this: It felt like No Limit! It was really great and the other people that played it really liked it as well.
Afterward the staff asked us and most agree that they loved the structure. There is a problem that you can’t rebuy until you go bust, but as it has to follow tourney rules there’s nothing they can do about this at the moment. Other than that NLHE has come to Canterbury.

Played in two of these last night. There is a new structure that is
$200+ $30 and you can rebuy for $210 dollars anytime you stack falls below $99
Kudos to Canterbury staff for taking the feedback and offering different structures. I suspect there will be a few of these running every night now. The $300 vs $200 buy in and 2 hour vs 3 hour commitment seems to make the difference.

Doing a small write-up for the “Survivor” game this week. Will definitely put it in the April issue.
