PHOTOS: Dan Dow wins second Island Tournament

Dan Dow

Dan Dow continued his sizzling start to the 2010 poker season by winning his second Treasure Island “Island Tournament” in a month. Dow outlasted 53 other players for a $13,800 payday in the $1k buy-in event.

On February 6th, Dow won the $600 buy-in Island Tournament for just under $10,000.

Dow actually had some significant help from the poker gods with 11 players remaining — one away from the money — when he shoved 66 and was called by Wesley Freiberg’s AA. Dow hit a straight on the river to stay alive, and he used relentless aggression to build his stack at the final table.

On the first hand of heads-up play, with Dow facing a 3:2 chip deficit, Roger Guzek moved all in with AJ. Dow called with QQ and doubled up after sweating a few scare cards.

From there, Dow never let off the gas. Guzek was eventually forced to shove all in with 10-9, and Dow looked him up with 7-3. A 3 came on the flop, and Dow took down the title.
