Running Aces To Host Trent Tucker Celebrity Tournament
Michael Jordan scheduled to appear at youth education program fundraiser
MINNEAPOLIS (Sept. 2, 2010) – Former NBA superstar and Hall of Famer Michael Jordan heads the list of celebrities expected to participate in the 2010 Trent Tucker Celebrity Golf and Poker Tournament, Sept. 16-18.
The tournament – themed “A weekend of fun; a lifetime of impact,” – is the annual fundraiser for the Trent Tucker Youth Program, an initiative that provides Twin Cities at-risk middle school students with educational opportunities, leadership training and career development.
“Year after year, I’m gratified by the return and support of so many friends and celebrities who are committed to improving the lives of young people,” said Trent Tucker, former University of Minnesota and NBA basketball star and founder of the Trent Tucker Non-profit Organization. “This tournament is crucial to our organization’s success, and the real winners are the students who are gaining the opportunity to learn, grow and make a real difference in their community.”
Since 1998 the tournament events have raised more than $1 million for local charities and Tucker’s youth program.
Along with Jordan, other celebrities scheduled to appear are: Recently enshrined Basketball Hall of Famer and former NBA star Scottie Pippen; former NBA player B.J. Armstrong; former Major League Baseball standout Kenny Lofton and many others.
The event kicks off with a poker tournament at Running Aces Harness Park in Columbus, Minn., Thursday, Sept. 16. A celebrity party is set for the Crave at the Shops at West End, St. Louis Park, Friday, Sept. 17 at9 p.m. The golf tournament will be held at Rush Creek Golf Club, Maple Grove, Saturday, Sept. 19, with a shotgun start at 10 a.m.

The Trent Tucker Youth Program, established in 2001 by the Trent Tucker Non-profit Organization, empowers Twin Cities-area at-risk youth by developing the skills they need to make positive choices.
