MSPT = Bigger and Better
The word has been on the street for several months now but we’ll make it official. The Minnesota State Poker Tour (MSPT) initially founded by Bryan Mileski and Phil Mackey in 2009 has rebranded to the Mid-States Poker Tour (still MSPT).
It only makes sense since the MSPT crossed the border for the first time to Diamond Jo Casino in Iowa this past April. Nothing will really change except that additional locations will be added in 2012 throughout the Midwest. The beloved two-day, deep structured Main Event will stay the same.
The extended base of players should also bring much larger prize pools to the MSPT which I know all players will love!! The MSPT had only been marketed to Minnesota previously and featured a $100K Guaranteed Prize Pool.
The new website – www.msptpoker.com has been up for about a month if you have not yet noticed. You’ll see there are 9 locations (5 in MN, 3 in IA and 1 in WI) that have already committed to partnering with the MSPT in 2012. The MSPT has also added Grand Casino Mille Lacs this coming November, 2011. The two NEW Iowa stops in 2012 are at two of the largest, most popular card rooms in Iowa, Prairie Meadows Racetrack & Casino and Riverside Casino & Golf Resort. These are sure to be HUGE events.
The new website (www.msptpoker.com) still has a lot of work to be done on it but will be awesome when complete. It will have player profiles, stats, career leaders in cashes, final tables, total winnings, etc. Almost identical to the WPT.com site.
The MSPT is very excited for the opportunity to grow further into the Midwest and is very lucky and grateful for the tremendous player base and locations in Minnesota who have supported the MSPT to make it a success!! We look forward to continuing this partnership for decades to come.
With 10 locations expected in 2012, the MSPT will be Guaranteeing $1 MILLION throughout the year. That’s pretty cool! The MSPT has already awarded over $1.2 MILLION since launching in December 2009.
