Reflection: Matt Hyland wins 2011 Minnesota Freeze Out
With the 2012 Minnesota Freeze Out at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, MN upon us this Sunday, January 29th, we take a quick look back at the results of last year’s Freeze Out.
Matt Hyland of Brainerd earned his 2nd major win in just a 2 month span when he took down the 2011 Freeze Out last January for $41,080. There were 121 entrants in the field, the buy-in was $1,000+$100. Hyland had recently taken down the MSPT at Grand Casinio Hinckley for $39K. This was Hyland’s 3rd major title overall, he had also won an HPT event at Grand Casino Mille Lacs in 2009.
Hyland would defeat Erick Wright of Shoreview heads-up, Wright earned $23K for his 2nd place finish. Wright would go on in 2011 to win the Aces Anniversary tournament for $19K and the Canterbury Park Twin Cities Poker Open for $41K.
