Congrats., Matt Kirby. BTW, I’m not a pro ok…Well, maybe a Semi-Pro. Anyway, I just wanna give my short analysis answer of how I’d play this pocket (AA) in that late stages situation. First..on preflop opening bets and called are fine, those are pretty much Std… but I’d prefer to open with atleast 6-7 times. Because, at this point everyone has chips (units)and gotta make’em pay if they wanted to play and see your cards, alright??? Then on the Post flopped, I’ve to make a large c-bet like pot size or shove or ship it all into the center (All-in, Baby..!) Why I shoved??Because, my opponent has a huge wide-range when he decided to call me preflop in position like that. yes, I’d take no chances to let my opponent to make a draw or sucking out on me on the turn or the river. 2nd…Because I’ve been there before I was burned very badly and still alive. So, I’ve learned not to allow my opponent to suck out on me wth a Flush or a Straight drawings. WHY, Why slow play after that kind of flop??? Otherwise, don’t ever play those pocket(AA)or(K-K) period and just try to protect those units instead of your cards. Again, I will never tried to sell my Rolls Royce to a Kia dealer. Pretty sure you all know what I meant, right??
BTW, I’m driving a beat up 1992 Maxima.
Let me know if you don’t agree with my short simple answer….! I know I’m a rookie.
Peace,

It’s hard to give analysis in a vacuum as opposed to being there in person and playing with each players for hours. Maybe, hero could have raised preflop to 450,000 to 500,000. However, Villain still may have called with chip stack. I may have called too. That is how you bust players. Perhaps, Hero could have gotten away from hand on the river? You are calling off tournament life with one pair and you still have 13.5 BB.

I’m glad that Matt busted the Hero’s ass because of his cute slow played on each streets. Yes, the hero did give Matt the right price to call him on each streets all the way through the show down and “Busto”
Absolutely, one pair will not take down that pot when Matt shoved after he rivered. Hero is regreted for sure. Well, a lesson learned I guess and read more books, hero.
