Federated Sports & Gaming announced yesterday that they have acquired the Heartland Poker Tour. The HPT began operations in Minnesota back in 2005 and up until 2010 hosted several events each year in MN or in the 5-state area. The HPT has since grown into a national brand. The HPT Champ Open at Soaring Eagle in Mount Pleasant, MI took place this past weekend. The tournament drew 413 entrants.

10:30 pm update: Despite having 2 of the 3 remaining players in the entire tournament, the MN boys fall short of capturing the HPT title. Kurt Fraser earned $75,091 for his heads up victory over MN’s Jim Fisher. Fisher got a nice consolation prize, $37,545. Congrats on a nice showing for MN.
